pooterie
/ˈpuːtəri/ noun
A soft, human approach to pottery.
Objects shaped slowly, intentionally, and with care — made for daily practices, quiet moments, and the feeling of home.
Pooterie is the word my husband and I have always used for pottery. It’s a name that came from a tender, private place. When I started this studio, I chose it to highlight that softness.
It also reflects the spirit of the work itself: intimate, imperfect, and deeply human. Each piece is made slowly and intentionally, meant to be used often and lived with fully. From daily rituals to the quiet imprints life leaves behind, Pooterie explores how objects can hold memory, comfort, and presence.
In a world that often asks us to harden or hurry, Pooterie is an invitation to stay gentle, to move slowly, notice what we carry, and make space for small rituals that ground us.
The Hands Behind the Pieces
Annie is a ceramic artist, designer, and storyteller who started her career in engineering before finding her way back to her hands, her creativity, and herself.
She spent years building systems and solving problems, but clay offered something else: warmth, presence, and a quiet space to reconnect. What began as a simple after work hobby became a philosophy for a softer way of living and a grounding in slowness, intention, and creativity.
Pooterie Studio is her way of sharing that world with you.
Her pieces blend her Asian American heritage, her eye for thoughtful design, and the precision carried over from engineering. Shaped slowly, intentionally, and with a lot of heart.
She makes objects meant to bring comfort, beauty, and a soft moment to everyday life - pieces made for the moments that feel like home.
